I have recently been told that this album has been gaining some internet prominence of late so I decided to give a little review of this album which I was been enjoying since it’s release in 2009.
Obviously the hit single “Swag Surfin” is the most well-loved song on this album, and rightfully so. The beat is is awesome, the hook is very catchy, and its release predated the over saturation of the term swag. Additionally on this CD however are a few lesser known tracks which I like equally as much. “Mr. Lennox” a song about shopping on the famed Lennox Ave. in Atlanta. This song also features a catchy beat similar to the one on “Swag Surf”. Lastly, the song “Da Band” reflects the groups admiration for the bands of HBCU’s.
In all I rate this album 4/5 though it was not a monumental Def Jam release this debut album is all about partying and having fun which is a sometimes welcome change of pace for the southern rap subgenre.
